The secretaire is a favourite piece of furniture. These writing desks prove to be quite versatile in the home. I don't think there is a single room in which I wouldn't put one.
There are modern manifestations of the secretaire. This one by the Keno Brothers has a very elegant, streamlined look and the modern curves keep it from being too austere-looking. But I still prefer the curvy lines of the old designs.
I also think painting the secretaire in bright colours or lacquering it is a great way of modernising this piece of furniture.
