Plumasserie

It's one of those things that you see but you never guess at the amount of work that goes into it. Feathers of the parrot, ostrich, guinea fowl, rooster, pheasant and other birds are cut, dyed, sewed and curled to make fantastic elements of Dior, Chanel or Givenchy couture pieces or they can be used to make jewelry, hats and objects of art or curiosity. The feather-to-precious-object conversion process is called Plumasserie.

The Work of Plum Faux

The strapless jeans dress below is by Plumassiere, Nelly Saunier, together with Jean-Paul Gaultier,  from 1999.

But my favourite has to be the jewelry, particularly this Harry Winston piece.
