On the Rue Blaes

I was in Brussels this past weekend. I am emptying my house of furniture. I will ship some to Vilnius; I have sent some to the consignment shop and some I will leave on the curb side. I hate packing. But I also still found time to look at some Antiques and things.  That dog is so huge, so Ancient...he too is Antique. I think he lives in the store.

My favourite discovery are these rugs by JINZU made out of recycled cotton. They are made in Spain. Went mad and bought a few.

Winter White

Secretary Clinton's outfit is on-point. White in the winter? Absolutely. I loved all of Olivia Pope's outfits on Scandal precisely because of the colour scheme- buttery creams and white. And it's hard to find a white or cream coat in the winter sometimes. If you are looking in Europe, try Guess or Massimo Dutti. I am at the United Nations this week for work and I am wearing white leather and cream to work with a white over coat. Yeah, that's just how us "nasty" women do it...go to work, ignore men and their "nasty woman" comments and get stuff done!

Decorating in the Tall Trees of Vilnius

I am now living less than a kilometer away from a cemetery among the tall trees. I love it and I actually love my new house..or, erm, I love its deco potential. I'll be painting and tinkering a lot with it. It is decidedly dated...that bathroom, for example, will be a challenge. I am replacing my Brussels furniture with some new pieces and I am looking forward to the end result. And yes, it comes with a sauna too.

The Beret

I was browsing at my new supermarket yesterday---I love Lithuanian supermarkets, great packaging and all--and I came across a piece of head gear I'd never worn. I love hats and I've been told I carry them off well. But I'd never worn a beret. And right there in the supermarket were a selection of berets. I bought one and will be sporting it all winter.

The Pig Was Smoking

Donald Trump is a pig. Even the Lithuanians think so. Last Friday, after picking up my midget from school, we decided to have a nice afternoon meal at a ribs and beer joint. It turned out to be Vilnius' Keulė Rūkė (pig was smoking). The food's delicious and I suppose the succulent ribs and pulled pork burger alone give the place its well-deserved reputation. But there's another reason it's famous: the odious, deplorable, misogynistic Donald Trump. There's  a drawing of Trump blowing smoke into Putin's mouth or otherwise giving Putin a "shotgun" kiss emblazoned on the front of the building. Fitting. The pig is the star advertisement for a restaurant called the pig was smoking.

In other news, I move into my new house today. I'll now live in the forest less than a kilometer away from a cemetery. Spooooooooookieee and I love it. More on this later....

Fall Colours

Fall? What fall? It's bloody winter in Lithuania with temperatures hitting 8 C as the high today. It's all gray and rainy and blah but still the leaves on the trees do make it look like fall- the colours are beautifil (burnt orange, red, yellow). Still it's great being away from the gray, dusky Brussels. Seriously, it is.

Just in time. JCREW at New York Fashion Week decided to anticipate the winter misery by cheering us up with its spring 2017 collection. I like all the girly pink set against the khaki. I want that pyjama shirt like now...just so I can wear it in the middle of the Lirhuanian Fall.

Creepy Rental Home Bathrooms

Gaaaahh! Those frogs! Totally creepy. Am house-hunting in Vilnius...and looking at bathroom décor to cheer me up. If you've ever been rental house-hunting, then you, like me, must think that the creepiest part of it has got to be the bathrooms. No?
